Asset Modelling
Since 2000, apm has been at the forefront of developing Asset Models for major asset owners and maintainers. We believe we have unrivalled experience in such systems and methodologies, and have supported major clients including Highways Agency, Crossrail, Amey, Bechtel, Tube Lines, Network Rail and the Dutch government on some of the largest investment projects in Europe today.
Asset Knowledge linked to Business Drivers
Core to apm’s is our ability to understand and model the life cycle characteristics of assets. Our models consider not only the mean failure rate or condition of assets but account for uncertainty in such values, e.g. we are able to include distributed values in our models that allow us to also understand the uncertainty.
We are also link assets failure and condition to business drivers, e.g. via a Performance-Penalty regime, as is common in Private Finance Initiative and Public Private Partnership project. This provides a unique ability to understand how assets and asset interventions, such as maintenance and capital works, have on the business today and into the future, sometimes up to 30 years.
We support our clients through the application of a broad range of Asset Modelling skills, including:
- Whole Life Cost Modelling
- Performance Modelling of assets
- Performance Benchmarking
- Optimisation of both Operations and Capital Works programmes and spend
- Asset Condition Modelling
- Linking Asset Performance to Payment Mechanisms
- Predicting Life Cycle Characteristics of Assets
- Assessing impact of Operational and Infrastructural Changes on Asset and Businesses
